North Morowali Regency Strengthens Regional Governance to Prevent Corruption
The North Morowali Regency Government (Pemkab Morut), Central Sulawesi, is committed to strengthening regional government governance as a concrete step towards preventing corruption. This effort is being implemented by prioritising a risk-based prevention system that goes beyond mere formal administrative oversight.
The Vice Regent of North Morowali, Djira, emphasised that this move is a follow-up to directives from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) through the Monitoring Center for Prevention (MCP) intervention programme. This programme includes monitoring, controlling, and supervising designed to close loopholes for corrupt practices within the bureaucracy.
“Corruption prevention is not enough through administrative oversight alone; it must also be accompanied by risk-based prevention,” said Djira in Kolonodale on Saturday (1/8).
Following the KPK’s directives, the North Morowali Regency Government is now focusing its attention on eight intervention areas deemed most vulnerable to corruption. Djira has instructed all Regional Government Organisations (OPD) responsible for these intervention areas to immediately align their steps and accelerate the fulfilment of the established indicators.
This strengthening measure is also a response to the results of the Integrity Assessment Survey (SPI) released by the KPK. Based on SPI data for Central Sulawesi for the 2023–2025 period, North Morowali Regency still holds a “vulnerable” status. A similar status was experienced by seven other regencies as well as the Central Sulawesi Provincial Government.
As a demonstration of seriousness, the North Morowali Regency Government held a coordination meeting involving all OPDs on Friday (31/7) to synchronise perceptions and accelerate field follow-ups.
“Accelerating the fulfilment of indicators, increasing coordination between regional apparatuses, and synchronising perceptions are all part of a unified effort to stabilise government governance,” concluded Djira.
