Tokyo (ANTARA) - North Korea criticised Japan for calling for the denuclearisation of Pyongyang in the annual foreign policy report issued last week, labelling it “anachronistic” and a “serious provocation” that violates its right to sovereignty, according to state media on Wednesday.

The Japan Studies Institute under North Korea’s Foreign Ministry stated on Tuesday that the 2026 Diplomatic Blue Book fully reveals Tokyo’s “deep hostility and confrontational intent” towards Pyongyang, according to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

The report mentions Japan’s concerns over North Korea’s nuclear and missile weapons programmes and states that these programmes must be completely stopped.

Describing Japan as a “subordinate state” of the US, the institution stated that Tokyo is making desperate efforts to deny North Korea’s status as a nuclear-armed nation, calling it “impudent and ridiculous behaviour.”
