North Kolaka Police Name Two Juvenile Suspects in Islamic Boarding School Burning Case
North Kolaka Police have named two juvenile suspects in a case involving the alleged burning of a student at the Al Islam Meeto Islamic boarding school on Thursday (17/4/2025).
Head of Criminal Investigation at North Kolaka Police, AKP Fernando Oktober, explained that the two juvenile perpetrators, identified by the initials H (12) and AM (14), have been named as suspects but were not detained due to being minors.
"We did not carry out detention as we took into consideration several children's rights, such as their psychological and mental condition," he stated.
Despite not being detained, North Kolaka Police placed the two juvenile suspects in a shelter home.
As previously reported, a student at the Al Islam Meeto Islamic boarding school in Tiwu District, North Kolaka Regency, identified by the initials AMRM, was allegedly set on fire by two senior students. The victim suffered serious burns across the body and received intensive care at Djafar Harun Hospital.
The incident occurred on Friday, 11 April 2025, at the boarding school in Kodeoha District.
