North Jakarta Strengthens Children's Forum as Platform for Youth Participation in Development
North Jakarta’s Sub-District Office for Empowerment, Child Protection, and Population Control (PPAPP) has strengthened the Children’s Forum as an official platform for youth participation in development and promoting child-friendly policies. “The Children’s Forum is a legitimate platform to drive the implementation of child-friendly policies,” said Head of North Jakarta PPAPP Sub-District Office, Agung Meidya Gutama, in Jakarta on Friday. Through the Children’s Forum, members are given space to help shape child-friendly policies. However, this role will not be effective without the spirit of ‘Pioneers and Reporters’ (2P). As pioneers, Forum members are expected to be agents of change in their communities, encouraging peers to maintain environmental cleanliness, boost learning enthusiasm, use digital technology wisely, and foster mutual respect. “Be an inspiration who spreads positive energy to other children in North Jakarta, so that a spirit of goodness can continue to grow,” said Agung. Additionally, Forum members act as reporters, showing concern for child rights protection and preventing various forms of violence. The Forum encourages members to report child rights violations, violence, bullying, and child marriage. “Report to trusted adults such as teachers, parents, Forum mentors, or the Women and Children Protection Complaint Post (PPA) in every sub-district,” Agung said. Within the Forum, members are educated on effective communication, expressing aspirations, and safe reporting mechanisms. Agung urged mentors to continue supporting the Children’s Forum in their respective areas to create a positive, safe, and inclusive space for children. “We hope Forum participants continue to contribute, inspire, and protect their peers,” he said.
