North Jakarta Road Infrastructure Agency Repairs Thousands of Street Lights Across Six Districts
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The North Jakarta Road Infrastructure Sub-District Agency is repairing thousands of public street lighting points in six districts. “From January to March 2026, a total of 3,308 street lighting points have been repaired,” said the Head of the Infrastructure and Urban Utilities Section as well as Public Street Lighting of the North Jakarta Road Infrastructure Sub-District Agency, Untung Pitoyo, in Jakarta on Monday. His team is intensifying the repair and maintenance of public street lighting (PJU) lamps in the six districts. Repairs are carried out in stages every month. He detailed that in January, 1,347 street lighting points were repaired. Then, 1,290 street lighting points were repaired in February, and 671 points in March. He explained that the street lighting repairs target all types of roads, from residential neighbourhoods to protocol roads. The lamp powers handled also vary, from 40 to 200 watts. According to him, PJU repairs are not limited to replacing lamps but also include handling that covers network and installation repairs, routine surveys, and asset security to minimise damage to public facilities. “We are on standby 24 hours in the six districts with support from six pick-up trucks and three ladder trucks to ensure the safety and comfort of residents during nighttime activities,” he said. He invited the public to participate actively by reporting faulty or damaged PJU lights through official channels so that they can be followed up immediately by officers. According to him, optimal road handling is not just about comfort. Street lighting is important for improving security and reducing the potential for criminality. His team responds to every report and field findings quickly. “Our focus is not only on replacing lamps but also ensuring that the electricity network, both overhead and underground cables, functions optimally,” he said.
