North Jakarta Public Works Sub-Department Promises to Repair Leaning Pole and Tidy Cables in Pademangan
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com — The North Jakarta Public Works and Highways Sub-Department has assured it will follow up on residents’ complaints about a leaning pole and tangled cables on Jalan Krapu, Pademangan, North Jakarta. Head of the North Jakarta Public Works and Highways Sub-Department, Darwin Ali, said the agency would inspect the condition.
“It will be checked and followed up,” he said when contacted by Kompas.com, on Friday, 6 March 2026.
“For the leaning pole, coordination with the owner of the pole will be carried out immediately so that replacement can be carried out,” he said.
Additionally, the agency will tidy the cables hanging above the road to prevent endangering road users.
“For the overhead cables, there will be tidying and binding so as not to disrupt the safety of road users,” he added.
Earlier reports indicated a pole on Jalan Krapu, Pademangan, North Jakarta, appeared to lean towards the roadway. Residents feared the pole could collapse.
Kompas.com’s observations at the location on Friday showed the electricity pole located right in front of Pasar Ikan’s Pump Station.
One cable was also seen dangling down to the sidewalk. Residents had even placed stones on the cable to prevent endangering pedestrians.
Because the pole leans toward the road, the cable connected to the pole appeared to hang loose above the road.
In addition, there are cables that are severed and trailing in the middle of Jalan Krapu. Those cables often snag loads from passing container trucks.
One resident, Pian (30), said the pole has long been in a leaning condition and has never been repaired.
“That pole has been like that for a long time. It is dangerous, leaning towards the road,” he told Kompas.com at the location on Friday.
