North Jakarta Police Request Public to Report Criminal Acts
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Kasat Reskrim) of the North Jakarta Metropolitan Police, AKBP Awaludin Kanur, has urged the public to boldly report any criminal acts in their neighbourhoods to officers, allowing for immediate follow-up.
“We ask the community not to hesitate to report and provide information to us,” Awaludin stated during a press conference in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Currently, he continued, there have been numerous motorcycle theft incidents, with nine cases uncovered by police officers. “We have also uncovered four cases of robbery with violence using sharp weapons and others,” he said.
His side will take firm and measured action against perpetrators of crimes. “We will process, act on, and uncover criminal acts in the North Jakarta Metropolitan Police jurisdiction as a deterrent effect,” he remarked.
Previously, the North Jakarta Metropolitan Police apprehended 26 criminal perpetrators who carried out various criminal acts in their jurisdiction from January to April 2026.
“The 26 suspects secured were involved in 15 criminal acts,” said the Deputy Chief of North Jakarta Metro Police, AKBP Rohman Yonky Dilatha, in Jakarta on Tuesday.
He stated that the uncovering of these cases resulted from integrated work between the Criminal Investigation Unit and sector police stations during the January to April 2026 period, with a primary focus on combating street crimes and social ills.
The 15 criminal cases included aggravated theft (curat), motor vehicle theft (curanmor), and serious assault.
His side also seized several pieces of strong evidence suspected to have been used in the crimes, ranging from one four-wheeled vehicle and seven motorcycles.
“Then eight sharp weapons and one mobile phone unit became evidence of the crimes,” Rohman said.
