North Jakarta Police and City Government Gather Residents for Anti-Brawl Declaration on Indonesia's 81st Independence Day
The North Jakarta Metro Police, together with the North Jakarta Forkopimko (Regional Leadership Coordination Forum), held an anti-brawl declaration. The activity was carried out in the context of commemorating the 81st anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence Day.
The event, titled ‘People’s Feast’, was centred at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) in Tanjung Priok. The activity was also held at nine other locations, namely RPTRA Waduk Pluit and RTH Kalijodo in Penjaringan, GOR Rawa Badak and Islamic Center in Koja, GOR Semper Barat and GOR Sekda Saefullah in Cilincing, JIS and GOR Sunter in Tanjung Priok, as well as the Benyamin Sueb parking area in Pademangan.
The activity was led by North Jakarta Mayor Hendra Hidayat, North Jakarta Metro Police Chief Senior Commissioner Oki Waskito, elements of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), and was attended by hundreds of other residents. Oki said the activity was a momentum to strengthen togetherness and invite the community to maintain security and order in their neighbourhoods.
“In the activity, the North Jakarta Forkopimko together with the community also delivered an Anti-Brawl Declaration as a form of shared commitment to reject all forms of brawls and violence,” Oki said in his statement on Tuesday (18/8/2026).
Various activities also enlivened the People’s Feast, ranging from the distribution of basic food packages, public entertainment performances, an MSME bazaar, 17 August competitions, to free health checks. The police also invited the community to jointly maintain order.
“The community’s enthusiasm was visible in the activity. Residents welcomed the People’s Feast positively, which was considered a space to gather, foster relationships and enjoy the Independence Day celebration with family and the community,” he said.
The community welcomed the activity, especially with the anti-brawl declaration. Through the activity, the North Jakarta Forkopimko invited all residents to continue maintaining unity, strengthening brotherhood, and jointly preventing brawls.
