North Jakarta Mayor urges residents to maintain unity amid diversity
North Jakarta Mayor Hendra Hidayat has urged local residents to always maintain unity amid the diversity that characterises North Jakarta.
“Differences are not a weakness, but a strength that we must nurture together. Let us keep North Jakarta safe, orderly, and harmonious,” Hendra said at the commemoration of the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday 1448 Hijriah in Jakarta on Friday.
“We also invite the entire community to increase social awareness, especially towards orphans and the underprivileged,” he added.
According to Hendra, care for others must become a collective movement that continues to grow within society. He also reminded of the importance of the younger generation’s role in safeguarding the city’s future.
He believes young people need to be directed towards positive activities to avoid various negative influences.
“We must work together to protect the younger generation from destructive things such as brawls, drugs, and online gambling. Let us fill their time with beneficial activities,” Hendra said.
Therefore, Hendra said the Prophet Muhammad’s birthday commemoration at the Al Musyawarah Mosque serves as evidence that the spirit of togetherness, care, and unity continues to grow within North Jakarta society.
“With this spirit, North Jakarta is expected not only to advance in development, but also to be strong in social, cultural, and religious values,” Hendra concluded.
