North Jakarta Intensifies Business Licensing Oversight for Veterinary Clinics

The North Jakarta Food Security, Marine, and Agriculture Sub-agency (KPKP) is intensifying oversight of business permits, including those for veterinary clinics providing animal healthcare services across six districts. The inspections are intended to ensure all facilities meet regulatory standards, legality, and applicable provisions. “This oversight is a follow-up to the directive from the Head of the DKI Jakarta KPKP Agency to improve business actors’ compliance with licensing regulations,” said Adil Abdillah, Head of the Animal Husbandry and Animal Health Section at the North Jakarta KPKP Sub-agency, on Thursday. He explained that the monitoring is a follow-up to the agency head’s directive to ensure animal health services in North Jakarta comply with legal procedures and regulations. Abdillah noted that the inspections took place over a week from 10-17 July 2026, involving KPKP implementing units at the sub-district level. “So far, we have visited more than 10 locations for thorough examinations,” he said. The inspections involve checking the suitability of practice premises, the completeness of business licensing documents, and the Practice Licence (SIP) for veterinary medical personnel. The oversight is not solely focused on administrative aspects but also aims to provide protection for animal owners and veterinary medical personnel, as well as to guarantee the quality of animal healthcare services. Abdillah urged all veterinary clinic owners and independent practitioners to promptly complete their licensing documents if any requirements remain unfulfilled. “We hope that through this oversight, the standard of animal healthcare services in North Jakarta will improve. We also urge business actors to always maintain administrative order for the safety and comfort of the public,” he said. Meanwhile, a practising veterinarian in the Kelapa Gading sub-district, Zakiyatul Sadri (26), stated that periodic oversight is necessary to prevent substandard practices and minimise potential negligence in animal handling. She expressed hope that similar activities would be carried out continuously to maintain the professionalism and credibility of animal health services in North Jakarta. “I will comply with all provisions set by the government. This is not just about administration, but also for the safety and comfort of the patients, namely the animals, and their owners,” she said.
