North Jakarta Forms Five Task Forces to Prevent Brawls and Social Conflict

The North Jakarta City Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimko) has formed five task forces (Satgas) to prevent brawls and social conflict in the city. “Five task forces have been formed, consisting of a Detection Task Force, a Pre-emptive Task Force, a Preventive Task Force, a Law Enforcement Task Force (Gakkum), and a Support Task Force,” said North Jakarta Metro Police Deputy Chief, AKBP Rohman Yonky Dilatha, during a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) to design strategies for anticipating brawls and social conflict in Jakarta on Thursday. According to him, each task force has a different function, ranging from early detection of vulnerable areas and education for students and youths, to routine patrols, law enforcement against criminal offenders, and the provision of health services and trauma healing for underage victims and perpetrators. Rohman stated that if there is information about a planned brawl, all elements must be ready to respond. “We are also involving the Community Early Warning Forum (FKDM) and the Community Self-Reliance Institution (LMK) as eyes and ears on the ground,” he said. “Several incidents that have occurred are very concerning. Hopefully, this will be the last one in North Jakarta. Therefore, we need the same commitment and intention from all parties to carry out prevention,” he added. He explained that prevention efforts will be carried out in an integrated manner from the city, sub-district, and urban village levels down to the neighbourhood and community unit levels. “This action plan will be implemented together down to the lowest level to map the potential for brawls and other social conflicts,” said Iyan.
