North Jakarta Forkopimko Forms Five Task Forces to Prevent Brawls and Social Conflict

The North Jakarta City Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimko) has established five task forces (Satgas) to prevent street brawls and social conflict in the area.

“There are five task forces formed, consisting of the Detection Task Force, Pre-emptive Task Force, Preventive Task Force, Law Enforcement Task Force, and Assistance Task Force,” said North Jakarta Metro Police Deputy Chief AKBP Rohman Yonky Dilatha during a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on designing strategies to anticipate brawls and social conflict in Jakarta on Thursday (6/8).

According to him, each task force has a different function, ranging from early detection of vulnerable areas, education for students and youths, routine patrols, law enforcement against criminal offenders, to providing health services and trauma healing for underage victims and perpetrators.

Rohman stated that all elements must be ready to respond if there is information about a planned brawl. “We are also involving the Community Resilience Forum (FKDM) and Community Institutions (LMK) as eyes and ears on the ground,” he said.

Meanwhile, North Jakarta City Secretary Iyan Sopian Hadi said the formation of the integrated task forces is a response to the rampant brawls that have caused fatalities and public unrest.

“Some of the incidents that have occurred are very concerning. Hopefully, this will be the last in North Jakarta. Therefore, we need commitment and a shared intention from all parties to carry out prevention,” he stated.

He explained that prevention efforts will be carried out in an integrated manner from the city, sub-district, and urban village levels down to the neighbourhood and community unit levels. All potential vulnerabilities will be mapped in detail as a basis for formulating anticipatory measures.

“This action plan will be implemented jointly down to the lowest level to map the potential for brawls and other social conflicts,” Iyan said.
