North Jakarta Food Security, Maritime, and Agriculture Sub-District Office conducts health checks on cattle in Rorotan ahead of Idul Adha
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Sub-District Office for Food Security, Maritime, and Agriculture (Sudin KPKP) of North Jakarta conducted health examinations on cattle owned by residents on Jalan Rorotan-Marunda, Rorotan Ward, Cilincing Sub-District, ahead of Idul Adha.
“This examination is a preventive step to ensure that sacrificial animals are healthy and fit,” said the Head of the North Jakarta Sudin KPKP, Novy Christine Palit, in Jakarta on Monday.
She stated that 31 head of cattle had been examined and given vitamins. From the results of the examination, four head of cattle were found to be in less than healthy condition.
Officials immediately provided treatment by administering antibiotics to three head of cattle, while one other received fever-reducing medication.
“The examination was conducted thoroughly, including checks on heart rate, body temperature, and physical conditions such as the mouth, hooves, and nose,” she said.
Based on the results of the examination of all the cattle, no indications of Foot-and-Mouth Disease (PMK) were found.
“This activity is routinely carried out as an effort to prevent contagious animal diseases, as well as to ensure that livestock being traded are in healthy condition,” said Novy.
Examinations of sacrificial animals will continue to be intensified ahead of Idul Adha.
She also urged breeders and cattle traders to maintain stable cleanliness and ensure adequate feed. “We also ask that if there are symptoms of disease in livestock, they be reported immediately so that they can be handled quickly,” she stated.
Meanwhile, livestock seller Deli (40) said that the government’s attention provides a sense of security for cattle breeders.
“Hopefully our livestock remains healthy so that the quality and selling value of the cattle also increases,” he said.
