North Jakarta Fire Service Extinguishes House Fire in Tanjung Priok
The North Jakarta and Kepulauan Seribu Fire and Rescue Service (Sudin Gulkarmat) extinguished a house fire on Jalan Papanggo Raya, Papanggo sub-district, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, on Friday. “The fire is suspected to have been caused by an electrical phenomenon in the house, which was occupied by one family of five,” said Gatot Sulaeman, Head of Operations for the North Jakarta and Kepulauan Seribu Fire and Rescue Service, in Jakarta on Friday. He stated that the object on fire was a residential house measuring 15 square metres. “We deployed five fire engines and 25 personnel who worked hard to extinguish the blaze,” Gatot said. He explained that according to witness accounts, the homeowner was cooking in the kitchen and left the cooking unattended. The homeowner went out, and upon returning, saw thick smoke emerging. A witness shouted for help, while the witness’s child went to the Warakas fire post to request assistance in handling the fire. Personnel arrived at the scene at 9:52 a.m. Western Indonesian Time and the fire was successfully extinguished by 10:23 a.m. “Alhamdulillah, the fire was successfully extinguished and the situation is now safe,” Gatot stated.
