North Jakarta Environmental Office Previously Found Company Trucks Illegally Dumping Waste in Cilincing
JAKARTA — The North Jakarta Environmental Office (Suku Dinas Lingkungan Hidup) previously discovered two waste transport vehicles belonging to a private company that were allegedly conducting illegal waste dumping in the Rawa Malang area of Cilincing, North Jakarta.
The discovery was made during surveillance operations conducted against waste transport vehicles suspected of dumping outside designated locations in January 2024.
Eddy Mulyanto, Head of the North Jakarta Environmental Office, stated that during the surveillance operation, officers found two waste transport trucks belonging to a private company at the dumping site.
In response to the findings, the North Jakarta Environmental Office summoned two companies suspected of being associated with the vehicles: PT AMP and PT PSP.
“One company, with the initials PT AMP, attended the summons and stated that the vehicle in question was not company property,” he said.
“Meanwhile, the other company, with the initials PT PSP, did not attend the summons but later acknowledged ownership of the vehicle during the administrative waste transport licence renewal process in December 2024,” Eddy continued.
Following this acknowledgement, PT PSP was imposed an administrative sanction in the form of a fine of 2 million rupiah. The sanction was imposed in accordance with DKI Jakarta Provincial Regulation Number 3 of 2013 on Waste Management.
Previously reported, a video showing piles of waste along Reformasi Road, Rawa Malang, Cilincing District, North Jakarta, went viral on social media.
The aerial footage showed the extent of waste piles covering much of the open land in the area.
Several plots of water resembling fishponds were also visible around the area. Some waste appeared to have entered one of the water plots, causing the water to appear darker in colour.
The recording also showed the activity of several people transporting waste sacks from the area into two trucks parked at the location.
