North Jakarta Environment Agency Sanctions Driver for Siphoning Operational Fuel

The North Jakarta Environment Agency (Sudin LH) has imposed strict sanctions on a garbage truck driver who was proven to have misused operational fuel in the Cilincing District area. The action was taken after a video of the fuel theft circulated on social media.

Based on the results of the examination, the garbage truck driver from the Cilincing Environmental Implementation Unit admitted to taking approximately 20 to 25 litres of remaining operational diesel. The North Jakarta Environment Agency, through the Commitment-Making Officer, issued a formal warning and demanded compensation of Rp5 million, which must be deposited into the regional treasury as a form of accountability.

“We do not tolerate any form of misuse of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government’s operational assets,” said Ardiyanto, Head of the North Jakarta Environment Agency’s Waste and Hazardous Waste Management Section, on Tuesday.

Ardiyanto explained that the strict action was part of an effort to maintain public trust while ensuring that all government assets and resources are used entirely for public service purposes. Following the incident, the agency is strengthening preventive measures through coaching, performance evaluations, and regular supervision of all operational vehicle drivers. Coordination with driver associations will also be enhanced to ensure all personnel understand and comply with the provisions for using operational fuel.

He added that the agency will tighten supervision without disrupting waste collection services to the public. “We want to ensure that waste transportation operations continue to run well, transparently, and accountably, and that every litre of fuel is used appropriately,” he said.
