North Jakarta Clears Kites Snagged in 17 Trees Along Sunter River

The North Jakarta Parks and Forestry Sub-agency has cleared a row of trees along the Sunter River that had become a ‘nest’ for discarded kites. The cleanup along Jalan Inspeksi Kali Sunter in Rawa Badak Utara, Koja, was prompted by a viral social media video showing treetops heavily littered with snagged kites. Responding to the public complaint, the sub-agency deployed teams on Monday and Tuesday to prune the affected branches. A total of 17 trees were treated, consisting of four trembesi trees, one angsana tree, and 12 bintaro trees. The pruning work was categorised as medium to heavy, with the trees reaching heights of 10 to 12 metres. The agency expressed its appreciation to the public and encouraged residents to help keep green spaces safe, neat, and beautiful.
