The North Jakarta City Government continues to strengthen its commitment to achieving fair and inclusive development through the implementation of Technical Guidance (Bimtek) on Gender Mainstreaming (PUG) and the preparation of Gender-Responsive Budget Planning (Peredaran Perencanaan Penganggaran Responsif Gender - PPRG).

“This technical guidance is a strategic step to increase the capacity of planners so they are able to identify gender issues and apply them in every stage of the development programme formulation,” said Anita Permata Sari, Assistant for Administration and Public Welfare of the North Jakarta City Secretariat, in Jakarta on Thursday.

Her office aims for every Regional Government Work Unit (UKPD) to be capable of formulating programmes that support the achievement of performance targets up to 2029, with a specific focus on gender issues.

“In this way, every programme formulated will be truly targeted in accordance with the respective duties and functions of each regional unit,” she added.

According to Anita, the implementation of gender-responsive planning can be realised through various aspects, ranging from the refinement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for public services to the provision of facilities and infrastructure that are friendly to all groups of society.

One such example is the provision of priority lanes for the elderly, pregnant women, and persons with disabilities in healthcare service facilities.

She noted that gender mainstreaming aims to eliminate various barriers, such as marginalisation, stereotypes, discrimination, and the double burden that can hinder the achievement of equality.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Regional Development Planning Agency for North Jakarta, Andhika Ajie, explained that this activity is part of the implementation of national policy in an effort to reduce the Gender Inequality Index (GII) as outlined in the 2025–2029 Regional Long-Term Development Plan (RPJMD) for the DKI Jakarta Province.

According to him, this technical guidance also serves as a momentum to refresh the understanding of planners, particularly following recent job rotations, so that it can be directly applied in the preparation of the 2027 Regional Government Work Plan (RKPD).
