The North Jakarta City Government (Pemkot) has partnered with the Community Early Warning Forum (FKDM) to deliver technical guidance or training on early detection, aimed at improving the identification of security disturbances in the local area.

“This activity is held to strengthen the capacity of FKDM members in detecting and reporting potential security, social, and disaster disturbances in North Jakarta,” said the Head of the National Unity and Political Agency (Kesbangpol) for North Jakarta City, Andi Achmad Kohar, in Jakarta on Wednesday.

He explained that North Jakarta, with its dense and diverse population, faces complex urban issues.

According to Andi, the presence of FKDM represents community concern for security and environmental comfort. Additionally, FKDM acts as a representation of residents and serves as the eyes and ears of the city government, sub-districts, and villages in conducting early detection of various potential disturbances in society.

He noted that North Jakarta has a dynamic character with crowds and quite complex challenges, ranging from social issues, potential natural disasters, to dynamics of community harmony.

“Therefore, community early vigilance must continue to be strengthened,” he said.

Andi emphasised that FKDM members play an important role in delivering information quickly, in detail, and accurately so that follow-up actions can be targeted appropriately. However, the organisation does not have the authority to execute issues on the ground.

“FKDM is tasked with receiving information, monitoring, and then reporting. Follow-up and execution are carried out by village, sub-district, or city government elements,” he said.

Andi hopes that the technical guidance provided will equip FKDM members with detection and identification skills.

Additionally, it covers assessment, analysis, interpretation, and presentation of information as a form of early warning to anticipate Threats, Challenges, Obstacles, and Disturbances (ATHG) in North Jakarta society.

“We have brought in two resource persons to equip the 100 FKDM members attending the training,” said Andi.
