North Jakarta City Government Enhances Understanding of Data Through "Cantik" Programme
The North Jakarta City Government is enhancing sub-district officials’ understanding of the role of data and statistics in supporting regional development through the “Kelurahan Cinta Statistik (Cantik)” programme.
“Development today must be based on accurate and accountable data, not on assumptions,” said North Jakarta Mayor Hendra Hidayat in Jakarta on Tuesday.
He emphasised that development can no longer be conducted based on assumptions. Accurate data, he said, serves as the primary foundation to ensure that policies taken are on target and truly beneficial to the community.
Hendra hopes the Kelurahan Cinta Statistik programme can be sustainable and not limited to mere launching.
“But it must be followed by consistent mentoring, monitoring, and evaluation,” he said.
He stated that the North Jakarta City Government hopes that through this programme, every sub-district will be able to manage data effectively.
In the future, sub-districts can improve the quality of public services and support the realisation of more effective, transparent, and targeted development.
Meanwhile, Head of BPS North Jakarta Theresia Parwati said that this programme is a strategic step to encourage statistical literacy at the sub-district level.
According to her, good data will help the government in designing more targeted programmes.
This programme aims to increase sub-district officials’ understanding of the importance of data, while also promoting better statistics management at the sub-district level.
“Statistics are not only BPS’s responsibility, but everyone’s, and in its implementation, every sub-district will have statistical agents tasked with assisting in the collection and dissemination of data information to the community,” she said.
The North Jakarta City Government launched the Kelurahan Cinta Statistik (Cantik) 2026 programme in North Rawa Badak Sub-district and Koja Sub-district, which was designated at the Mayor’s Office on Monday (27/4/2026).
