North Jakarta City Council Repairs Yos Sudarso Pavement for Public Safety
The North Jakarta City Council, through its Bina Marga Sub-Department, is repairing the pavement on Jalan Yos Sudarso, precisely in front of the PT Temas Building, Sunter Jaya Urban Village, Tanjung Priok District, for the safety of residents. “The pavement condition at this location has indeed suffered damage. We are carrying out repairs so that the pavement’s function can be restored optimally,” said Robertus, Head of the Roads and Bridges Section at the North Jakarta Bina Marga Sub-Department, in North Jakarta on Tuesday. The repairs are being carried out as an effort to improve the safety and comfort of pedestrians traversing the area. Moreover, the pavement repair activity is a follow-up to the results of routine monitoring conducted by officers in the field. From the monitoring results, a number of damages were found on the pavement surface that were deemed to have the potential to disrupt pedestrian activities. According to Robertus, the pavement condition at the location had indeed suffered damage in several parts, thus requiring immediate treatment. Repairs are carried out so that the pavement’s function as a public facility can operate optimally again and provide a sense of security for the community using it. In the execution, the North Jakarta Bina Marga Sub-Department deployed seven Pasukan Kuning personnel. Work began the previous day and, to date, the progress has reached approximately 35 metres. During the work process, access for pedestrians is still provided, so that community activities are not disturbed. Officers also continuously manage the work area so that the repair process proceeds safely and orderly. Besides improving the safety and comfort of road users, he said, this pavement repair can support efforts to organise urban areas. Neat and well-maintained pavements are an important element in creating a more pedestrian-friendly city environment whilst beautifying the face of Jakarta. The North Jakarta Bina Marga Sub-Department also invites the public to play an active role in maintaining the public facilities that have been repaired. “We urge the public to jointly maintain the public facilities that have been repaired. If you find damaged roads or public facilities, immediately report it to officers so that it can be followed up promptly,” said Robertus.
