The North Jakarta City Administration netted 19 vehicles that failed an emission test during an operation on Jalan Perintis Kemerdekaan, Kelapa Gading, on Friday. The Head of Pollution Control and Environmental Damage for North Jakarta, Evy Sulistiawati, stated the inspection targeted both two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles to reduce air pollution and increase compliance. From 72 vehicles inspected, five already had an emission test history, while 67 had never been tested. Of those tested on the spot, 19 failed to meet the exhaust emission standards, comprising 11 motorcycles and eight cars. Enforcement currently involves a sympathetic warning and an appeal for owners to carry out regular maintenance and servicing. Authorities hope all vehicles in Jakarta will comply with emission regulations and undergo routine servicing to support improved air quality in the capital.
