The North Jakarta Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) is educating local residents who disagree with their current decile ranking in the National Single Social and Economic Data (DTSEN) on how to submit change requests independently through dedicated service posts.

BPS is also conducting socialisation efforts and has opened complaint service posts for data amendments that can be utilised by the local community.

“As of yesterday, 1,052 reports for decile change requests have been received, and we are keeping this channel open to engage with members of the public who object to their current decile data,” said the Head of BPS North Jakarta, Theresia, in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Theresia explained that her office, in collaboration with the North Jakarta City Government, conducted a socialisation session at the North Jakarta Mayor’s Office on Monday (14/9), which was attended by various community elements.

BPS is also organising socialisation programmes and opening complaint channels at the sub-district (kelurahan) and district (kecamatan) levels.

“In fact, at the North Jakarta BPS office, we are receiving between 30 to 50 complaints every day,” she said.

She explained that when applying for a decile change, several required documents must be completed, namely the National ID (KTP), Family Card (KK), and a cover letter from the local neighbourhood head (RT) or community head (RW) verifying the applicant’s domicile.

Furthermore, applicants must provide photos of the front and interior of their house, including the living room, flooring, and bathroom, as well as the PLN electricity ID number. If the applicant has children in school or university, they may also include their Student ID (NIS) or Student Registration Number (NIM).

Additionally, residents must possess an approval form from the local sub-district head (Lurah) certifying that the information provided is accurate.

“If the data is complete, we will process the application for the change,” she said.

Theresia added that BPS North Jakarta performs ‘on-desk’ verification regarding the applications submitted by the public.

Her office already possesses community document data, which will be cross-referenced with data from other agencies for further processing.

“BPS North Jakarta performs on-desk verification using the completed documents, which are then uploaded for BPS RI (Central Bureau of Statistics) to review and rank, ultimately resulting in the decile,” she said.

“Our authority is to ensure that the incoming data is accurate,” she added.

She confirmed that decile changes can be made every three months in accordance with Presidential Instruction Number 4 of 2025 concerning the National Single Social and Economic Data, noting that changes are necessary given the relative fluctuations in public welfare.

She assessed that such changes are reasonable because economic conditions are relatively volatile, involving factors such as income fluctuations, births, new employment, or receiving inheritances.

“We are providing space for changes and offering service posts and education to help the public perform these updates independently online,” she said.
