Police have uncovered an apartment in North Jakarta being used as a home industry site for producing vapes containing etomidate. The revelation stemmed from the discovery of hundreds of etomidate vape cartridges at a location where a minor was kidnapped by a foreign national with initials CH (50) in Ancol, North Jakarta, on Saturday (25/4/2026). Head of Narcotics Unit at North Jakarta Metropolitan Police Resort, AKBP Ari Galang Saputra, stated that after finding hundreds of etomidate vape cartridges at the kidnapping site, they followed leads to two other locations. “At the third scene of the crime, we found hundreds of etomidate vapes that were already packaged and ready for distribution,” he added. He explained that the third scene, located in an apartment in North Jakarta, served as the production site. “For this third scene, we also found that it was used for home industry production of those etomidate vapes,” he said. The suspect CH admitted that the apartment, which was the third scene, was where he lived and produced etomidate vapes for the past several months. He stated that the raw materials for making etomidate vapes came from China, but the distribution process to Indonesia is still under investigation. “For now, based on the suspect’s admission, the materials he ordered were from abroad. We’re still delving deeper for further examination,” he said. “He (sold) to specific buyers like that. He got the information directly,” Galang added. From selling the etomidate-containing vapes, the suspect earned a turnover of up to Rp40,000.
