The North Jakarta City Government (Pemkot) has announced it will immediately reorganise heavy vehicle parking in the region, especially in residential areas and on public roads. “This arrangement must be done together. We are starting with data collection on heavy vehicle parking locations in residential zones, followed by more comprehensive handling measures,” said North Jakarta Deputy Mayor Fredy Setiawan in Jakarta on Wednesday. To this end, he stated that the city administration has held a meeting to discuss steps for regulating the parking of heavy vehicles, such as trucks and containers, which are still frequently found in residential neighbourhoods. “The Spatial Planning and Land Sub-agency has recorded hundreds of parking points and pools for heavy vehicles in North Jakarta, some of which are in residential zones,” Fredy noted. According to him, the presence of heavy vehicles in these areas can disrupt comfort, safety, and regional spatial planning. Therefore, he mentioned that the reorganisation will be carried out in stages through cooperation with various parties. Additionally, his office will continue existing policies, including restrictions on the operating hours of heavy vehicles on certain road sections. “The government will form an integrated team to accelerate the reorganisation, while also opening discussion spaces with business operators and related parties to find the best solutions,” Fredy said. His office seeks a comprehensive solution, including the provision of special parking areas to make residential environments more orderly and comfortable. “The meeting is expected to be the first step in reorganising heavy vehicle parking in North Jakarta to create a safer, more orderly, and more comfortable environment for the community,” Fredy stated. Previously, the North Jakarta administration, through its Transportation Sub-agency, intensified joint operations to control illegal parking in several areas to prevent traffic congestion on a number of roads in the region. “During the period of 8 June to 15 June 2026, officers took action against hundreds of two-wheeled vehicles, private cars, buses, and trailer trucks that violated parking regulations,” said Head of the North Jakarta Transportation Sub-agency Rudy Saptari Sulesuryana on Wednesday.
