North Jakarta Administration Holds Blood Donation Drive to Celebrate Jakarta's 499th Anniversary
The North Jakarta City Administration held a blood donation drive entitled “Moving Towards a New Era for Jakarta” to enliven the 499th anniversary of Jakarta on Thursday. North Jakarta City Secretary Iyan Sopian Hadi stated that the blood donation drive is a manifestation of social concern and a form of humanity in meeting the need for blood stocks. “This is a humanitarian contribution to help meet the community’s need for blood stocks,” said Iyan Sopian Hadi after reviewing the blood donation drive at the North Jakarta Mayor’s Office on Thursday. According to him, every drop of blood donated is a form of compassion and care for others. The blood donated is a form of benefit as well as proof of love for fellow living beings. He expressed hope that what was done could provide benefits for many people and become a good deed for the donors. “After donating blood, participants can also enjoy the refreshments that have been prepared as a form of appreciation. I hope all participants are always blessed with good health,” said Iyan. This year, the target was to collect 150 blood bags. However, all participants must undergo a screening or health check to ensure they meet the requirements to be donors. The Indonesian Red Cross also presented awards to civil servants who have routinely donated blood more than 10 times as a form of appreciation for their dedication to humanitarian actions. One of the award recipients was a North Jakarta Public Order Agency officer, Mochamad Nur, who has donated blood 24 times. “I am grateful to receive this award. To date, I have donated blood 24 times. I hope more civil servants and young people will not hesitate to donate blood because a drop of blood we give can save someone else’s life,” said Mochamad.
