North Bolaang Mongondow Regent Caught in Sting Operation Related to Public Works Projects
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has revealed a sting operation (OTT) involving the Regent of North Bolaang Mongondow, Sirajudin Lasena, concerning alleged corruption in projects under the local Public Works and Spatial Planning (PUTR) Department.
“Regarding the projects, these include those related to road infrastructure development within the PUTR Department,” stated KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the KPK Red and White Building in Jakarta on Monday.
Budi noted that the KPK suspects state officials within the North Bolaang Mongondow Regency Government received a sum of money in relation to these PUTR Department projects. However, he added that the KPK will only be able to provide detailed information regarding the specific projects allegedly corrupted at a later date.
“We will provide a further update, including a complete breakdown of the projects involved in this case, as an exposé at the leadership level is scheduled for tonight,” Budi said.
Previously, the KPK confirmed the arrest of Sirajudin Lasena and 13 others in the 21st sting operation of 2026. The KPK stated that Sirajudin Lasena was apprehended alongside four others in Jakarta, while eight others were arrested in North Sulawesi and one person in Gorontalo.
Under the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP), the KPK has 24 hours to determine the legal status of those detained during the operation.
