North Bolaang Mongondow Regent Caught in KPK Sting Operation Over Alleged Road Project Bribery

The Regent of North Bolaang Mongondow (Bolmut), Sirajudin Lasena, has been caught in a sting operation (OTT) by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). The operation is linked to alleged bribery involving road projects within the North Bolaang Mongondow Public Works and Spatial Planning Office (Dinas PUPR).

“It relates to projects in the regency. These include infrastructure projects for road construction under the PUPR Office,” stated KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to journalists at the KPK Red and White Building, Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Monday (21/09/2026).

As part of this operation, the KPK has seized evidence consisting of hundreds of millions of rupiah. The funds were recovered from three different locations during the sting.

“Some were secured in Jakarta, along with the individuals detained. Other amounts of money were secured in the North Sulawesi and Gorontalo regions,” Budi explained.

A total of 14 people were arrested in this operation, including Regent Sirajudin. The KPK team apprehended the Regent in Jakarta.

“There are 14 people in total; five were detained in Jakarta, one of whom is the Regent of North Bolaang Mongondow, a regency in the North Sulawesi region,” Budi clarified.

“Furthermore, eight people were detained in the North Sulawesi area, including within the Bolmut Regency itself, and one other person was detained in the Gorontalo region,” he continued.

Budi noted that the parties arrested consist of both state officials and private sector representatives. “The individuals detained include the Regent, the Head of Department, other civil servants, and private parties,” he said.

The detained individuals currently hold the status of persons under investigation. The KPK has 24 hours to officially announce the legal status of all parties caught in the sting operation.
