Banda Aceh (ANTARA) - The North Aceh Regency Government, together with the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs, has distributed compensation totalling Rp2.48 billion to 496 victims who suffered severe injuries from flash floods and landslides that struck the region in November 2025.
“The distribution of this compensation is a manifestation of the state’s presence in providing protection and attention to communities affected by disasters,” said North Aceh Regent H. Ismail A Jalil in a statement received in Banda Aceh on Wednesday.
He explained that the compensation was distributed to 496 recipients who had been declared eligible following a verification process conducted by the Ministry of Social Affairs, with each recipient receiving Rp5 million.
“The North Aceh Regency Government, together with the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs, remains committed to ensuring that disaster-affected communities obtain their rights in accordance with applicable regulations,” he said.
The Regent, familiarly known as Ayah Wa, expressed hope that the assistance would help ease the burden on victims, meet post-disaster needs, and support the acceleration of community recovery.
“We will continue to strengthen synergy between the central government and the North Aceh Regency Government so that every community affected by a disaster receives the protection and assistance that is their right,” he added.
The North Aceh Regency Government also conveyed its appreciation to the Ministry of Social Affairs for its support and collaboration in handling the impact of the disaster in North Aceh.
The symbolic handover of compensation was carried out by the Acting Director of Social Protection for Natural Disaster Victims at the Ministry of Social Affairs, Masryani Mansyur, representing Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf.
