Non-Subsidised Fuel Prices Rise, Pertamax Turbo User: Oh Dear, I'm Stroking My Chest

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The increase in non-subsidised fuel oil (BBM) prices has surprised some vehicle users. It is known that PT Pertamina (Persero) has raised the prices of Pertamax Turbo, Dexlite, and Pertamina Dex BBM. Meanwhile, the prices of Pertamax and Pertalite remain the same. Driver named Rizki (25) admitted he was shocked upon learning the news of the non-subsidised BBM price hike from the reports. “Usually, I buy fuel once a day, before the increase it was Rp80,000 for this motorbike. If it rises, it could be Rp90,000 or approaching Rp100,000 a day,” he added. Rizki uses non-subsidised BBM due to considerations for his motorbike’s engine. In fact, he feels Pertamax Turbo is safer and smoother for the engine. “I also do side gigs as an online taxi driver, so the engine runs smoothly. If prices rise like this, hopefully online taxi fares increase too,” said Rizki. “Because I work and do online taxi gigs, that’s why I use a lot of petrol. Maybe later, doing online taxi will be more intense after the BBM rises,” he said. Usually, Rizki starts doing online taxi from 4:00 PM WIB after work. The online gig is done until 9:00 PM WIB. After the non-subsidised BBM rises, Rizki plans to extend the online gig time until 11:00 PM WIB so that income can better cover petrol costs. After that, the officers immediately provided socialisation to BBM buyers at the petrol station. “We inform first before refuelling, so they don’t get shocked,” said Eka when met by Kompas.com at the location.
