Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - PT Pertamina Patra Niaga has responded regarding the adjustment of prices for some non-subsidised Fuel Oil (BBM) products, effective from 4 May 2026.

This adjustment is part of a periodic evaluation based on economic mechanisms, taking into account the dynamics of global crude oil prices, international refined product prices, and fluctuations in the rupiah exchange rate.

Some products are experiencing price adjustments, while others are being maintained to balance business aspects with public interests.

Corporate Secretary of Pertamina Patra Niaga, Roberth MV Dumatubun, explained that the non-subsidised fuel price adjustment is part of a market mechanism that follows global price developments.

“Non-subsidised products in principle follow economic prices and refer to applicable provisions and regulations. However, as a state-owned enterprise (BUMN) carrying out the state’s strategic mandate, Pertamina does not only consider business aspects but also pays attention to current societal conditions, the purchasing power of customers in the non-subsidised fuel user segment, and national stability,” said Roberth in a written statement on Monday (4/5/2026).

In its implementation, Pertamina Patra Niaga also considers various other factors, including socio-economic conditions, and the need to maintain a conducive situation amid current developments.

According to him, this step reflects Pertamina’s commitment to balancing business sustainability with national interests. As an extension of the Government, Pertamina contributes to maintaining and realising conducive conditions through price adjustments that remain competitive compared to other business entities.

“Therefore, not all products are experiencing price adjustments; some are maintained to remain competitive and relevant to public needs,” he added.

Roberth emphasised that non-subsidised fuel is intended for customer segments that follow market mechanisms. Nevertheless, Pertamina Patra Niaga continues to prioritise the principle of prudence so that pricing policies remain measured and aligned with societal conditions.
