Non-Subsidised Fuel Price Hike: Yogyakarta Regional Government Streamlines Official Vehicle Use and Increases Zoom Meetings
The Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY) administration has begun anticipating the impact of the non-subsidised fuel price hike on government operational costs. One measure involves tightening the use of official vehicles and increasing online coordination via Zoom to curb fuel expenditure.
DIY Regional Secretary Ni Made Dwipanti Indrayanti stated that efficiency measures were actually implemented long before the non-subsidised fuel price increase. The policy is part of energy-saving efforts and an adjustment to limited fiscal conditions.
“Actually, we have already implemented efficiency in the use of official vehicles following the previous appeal for efficiency related to energy consumption,” Ni Made said recently.
According to her, the DIY administration’s budget design has been structured minimally, leaving very limited room to increase operational spending. Consequently, the rise in non-subsidised fuel prices means the use of official vehicles must become even more selective.
Ni Made explained that field visits and official travel will still be conducted for priority activities directly linked to public service. However, vehicle usage patterns will be arranged more efficiently, including avoiding the use of one car per person for the same activity.
“If there are visits, for instance, there is no need for one person to use one car,” she said.
