The price of fuel oil (BBM) type non-subsidised diesel has reached above Rp30,000 per litre, drawing attention from the public, particularly diesel-engine vehicle users. In response, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia emphasised that fuel price increases do not affect subsidised products such as petrol, diesel, and LPG, which will remain stable amid global energy price pressures. “Once again, I say that for subsidised fuels, whether petrol, diesel, or LPG, there will be no increase. I say there will be no increase. However, for industrial fuels or those only for people who can afford it, the adjustment is based on market prices and in accordance with the 2022 Minister of ESDM regulation,” Bahlil said at the Presidential Palace Complex in Central Jakarta on Tuesday, 5 May 2026. As known, the price increase has occurred for non-subsidised BBM, particularly diesel, which is widely used in the industrial sector. At several private fuel stations, the price has even surpassed Rp30,000 per litre. At the Vivo Energy Indonesia fuel station network, the Diesel Primus product is now priced at Rp30,890 per litre. Meanwhile, the Revvo 92 petrol product is set at Rp12,390 per litre, based on the price update as of 1 May 2026. Similar conditions are seen at BP fuel stations, where the price of BP Ultimate Diesel has also reached Rp30,890 per litre, with the BP 92 fuel type at Rp12,390 per litre. Not only private stations, Pertamina has also adjusted prices for non-subsidised products. Pertamax Turbo (RON 98) has risen to Rp19,900 per litre from the previous Rp19,400 per litre. Dexlite has jumped to Rp26,000 per litre from Rp23,600, while Pertamina Dex is now at Rp27,900 per litre from the previous Rp23,900. Director General of Oil and Gas at the Ministry of ESDM, Laode Sulaiman, stated that this price surge is inseparable from ongoing global geopolitical fluctuations. “Of course, if we observe, the geopolitical situation is unstable. Up and down, up and down, up and down,” said Laode. According to him, amid this uncertainty, the government is currently focusing more on maintaining energy supply availability rather than controlling prices. “The most important thing for us right now is to keep the stock safe. That’s it for now, we don’t need to think about it yet. But the stock is safe, that’s the most important,” he said.
