Non-Subsidised Diesel Price Hike Leads to Price Correction in Used Diesel Vehicles
JAKARTA – The rise in the price of non-subsidised diesel fuel is beginning to impact the used diesel-powered car market. Several traders admit they are starting to adjust prices, although the reductions remain limited.
Daniel Libianto from the used car dealer Victory 88 Autocar said that currently, business players are observing developments in diesel vehicle prices following the increase in diesel prices.
“Indeed, from what I know, most traders are currently watching the price developments of diesel cars due to the impact of the diesel price hike. There will definitely be a price correction,” Daniel told Kompas.com on Monday (20/4/2026).
“Currently, prices have started to drop since the diesel price change yesterday. But the drop is not much yet; I don’t know if it will drop further or stabilise,” he said.
According to Daniel, the average price reduction for used diesel cars is currently around 5 per cent. Nevertheless, the future direction of price movements remains uncertain.
“Diesel car prices have not dropped much yet, averaging about 5 per cent. But going forward, I still don’t know if they will normalise or correct further,” he stated.
He also revealed that some traders are currently holding back from adding stock of diesel cars while waiting for the market to stabilise.
“Most used car traders are holding off on buying diesel cars, as far as I know,” Daniel said.
In agreement, Andi, the owner of Jordy Motor showroom in MGK Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, said that price adjustments have begun.
“Certainly, traders’ purchases have seen price corrections. If it’s not very noticeable now, it might be visible in one or two weeks,” Andi said.
“Because they are still observing the government’s response and there are still those who can use the biosolar barcode. Once the biosolar barcode starts to be chosen for vehicle types again, the drop will become apparent,” he added.
With this situation, the used diesel car market is expected to experience dynamics in the near term, as adjustments occur between fuel prices and consumer purchasing power.
