An Indonesian migrant worker (PMI) from Kuripan Village, Kuripan Subdistrict, West Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), named Siti Aminah (39), has passed away in Malaysia. Aminah died due to suffering a stroke.

The Head of the NTB Labour and Transmigration Office, Aidy Furqan, stated that based on the death certificate issued by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Kuala Lumpur, Number: 00661/SBPM-KL/0426/04, the deceased was declared dead on 15 April 2026 at 15:17 local time.

The victim died at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz UKM, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, due to haemorrhagic stroke.

“The victim’s body has been officially recorded in the state administration through the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur; no autopsy was performed,” he said on Wednesday (22/4/2026).

Furqan explained that the victim’s identity is complete and matches the official documents (passport and death certificate). All supporting documents for repatriating the body have been processed in accordance with applicable regulations.

“The victim’s body has arrived via Kuala Lumpur Airport to Lombok Airport. The body has been received by the family,” he said.

Based on official documents from the Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, as well as cross-agency coordination regarding the narrative and legal administrative considerations (legal bureau), the repatriation of the body has fulfilled aspects of legality, identity, immigration procedures, and health.

Separately, NTB DPRD member Suharto assisted in the repatriation process for Aminah, who suffered misfortune abroad. Aminah was a PMI with non-procedural status.

“The repatriation process was also assisted by a member of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia from the NasDem Party, Irma Suryani Chaniago,” he said.

The victim’s family is in a financially disadvantaged condition. The victim required government support in the body repatriation process.

“We are committed to helping PMIs who face problems abroad. We ask that the public who wish to become PMIs depart according to procedures,” he emphasised.
