Non-Civil Servant Teacher Allowances Raised by IDR 2 Million, Transferred Directly to Accounts

Minister of Primary and Secondary Education Abdul Mu’ti has affirmed President Prabowo Subianto’s commitment to improving teacher welfare by raising allowances for non-civil servant (non-ASN) teachers and ensuring direct payment transfers. Mu’ti stated that the allowance for non-ASN teachers has been increased from IDR 1.5 million to IDR 2 million, while civil servant (ASN) teachers will receive an allowance equivalent to their basic salary. “The difference, as a breakthrough, is that the allowance and salary are transferred directly to the teacher’s account every month. This distinguishes it from previous policies and demonstrates the President’s commitment to cutting bureaucracy so that teachers can directly benefit,” Mu’ti told reporters at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Thursday (11/6/2026).

Regarding teacher qualifications, the government is continuing its scholarship programme for teachers who have not yet attained a D4 or S1 degree. Mu’ti noted that the 2025 scholarship allocation for 12,500 teachers, each receiving IDR 3 million per semester, is still ongoing. For the current year, the government has allocated scholarships for an additional 150,000 teachers with the same nominal amount. “We hope the President can attend the graduation ceremony for the 12,500 teachers who will complete their S1 education this year,” Mu’ti added.
