Nokia, Telkom join forces
JAKARTA (JP): State-owned PT Telkom has established a radio access network laboratory in its research and information technology unit (Risti) in Bandung, West Java, in cooperation with Nokia of Finland.
The laboratory was launched by Telkom's president, Asman A. Nasution in Bandung yesterday.
Through the laboratory, Nokia and Risti will study together new services and technologies.
In addition, the two parties will evaluate the service and quality of Nokia's hardware and software by providing a full test network which will include network subsystems, base stations, software and handsets.
Nokia said in a statement that it also supported wireless Internet application development and would provide information technologies including the Global System for Mobile communications (GSM) 1800, GSM 900/1800 dual band and GSM 1800/fixed wireless trial system for joint use with Risti. (icn)
