Nokia launches new cell phone

JAKARTA (JP): Nokia Mobile Phones launched on Thursday the Nokia 6210, targeting business executives.

General manager for Mobile Phones Indonesia Shaun Colligan said the dual band mobile phone was supported by a High Speed Circuit Switched Data (HSCSD) of up to 43.2 kilobit per second for quicker data transmission.

"This will make the WAP enabled Nokia 6210 a perfect tool for retrieving e-mail and to access the Internet with a compatible laptop computer," he said in a media brief.

The mobile phone, priced at between Rp 2.7 million (US$284) and Rp 3 million, could be connected to a laptop via infrared or cable, Colligan said.

The company has also recently launched its Nokia 9210 Communicator in the Asia-Pacific region.

The communicator, touted to be the world's first integrated multimedia device, comes with a color display and full keypad with a eight-way scroll for easier navigation, the company said in a statement. (tnt)
