Noisy Padel Court Dispute in Cilandak, South Jakarta Resolved Through Village Head Mediation
The Gandaria Selatan sub-district office has mediated between the owner of a padel court facility and local residents over noise complaints arising from the sporting activity in the Haji Nawi Raya area, Cilandak, South Jakarta, which have persisted since November 2025.
“Thank goodness the mediation went very well. Both parties expressed their respective concerns, and what pleased me greatly was that they ultimately forgave one another,” said Gandaria Selatan Village Head Ikhsan Kamil to reporters following the mediation at the Gandaria Selatan Sub-District Office, Jakarta, on Thursday.
Ikhsan said the mediation resulted in an agreement to install soundproofing and to change the padel court’s operating hours.
He acknowledged that his office had also requested the padel court owner to conduct a decibel test prior to the installation of soundproofing.
Subsequently, the padel court facility will operate from 2pm to 7pm Western Indonesian Time.
Regarding permits, he explained that the business was originally licensed for a car park and café. A padel court was later added as a supplementary business and registered through the Online Single Submission (OSS) integrated licensing system.
“We asked about the Business Identification Number (NIB) — it exists. However, whilst the Building Approval Permit (PBG) hearing has been completed, the permit number has not yet been issued,” he said.
As for regulations governing the distance between commercial buildings and residential properties, the sub-district was unable to provide further comment. The village head said this fell under the authority of DKI Jakarta’s Public Works, Spatial Planning and Land Agency.
Meanwhile, a temporary suspension of operations could not be implemented as ten employees still required their income.
“No, because the padel [court] needs to pay its employees their holiday bonuses (THR) this year,” he said.
Previously, residents in the Haji Nawi Raya area of Cilandak, South Jakarta had reported noise disturbances caused by the construction and operation of the padel court to the relevant authorities since November 2025.
On that occasion, residents conveyed their demands for the facility operator to either install soundproofing or cease operations.
