Noel Ebenezer Claims Not a Single Witness Has Linked Him to K3 Certificate Extortion
Jakarta — Former Deputy Minister of Finance Immanuel Ebenezer, also known as Noel, told the Corruption Court at the Jakarta Pusat District Court on Friday that not a single witness presented by the Prosecutor from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) linked the case to him. ‘There isn’t a single witness who links this case to me. That means more than 50 percent is done; it is now up to the judge and prosecutors to consider, but we will respect the judicial process,’ Noel said in court on Friday 6 March 2026. ‘Firstly, there is definitely no extortion; who was extorted, which businessman, is unknown.’ Noel said he believed the case of alleged extortion in the processing of K3 certificates was a ‘titipan’—a favour-for-favours arrangement by businesspeople who dislike his policies. These remarks were made by prosecutors in the opening indictment hearing of the corruption case involving extortion in the processing of K3 certificates at the Jakarta Pusat District Court on Monday 19 January 2026. The prosecutors stated that this extortion had been ongoing since 2021. The prosecutors said Noel had never reported the receipts to the KPK within 30 days as required by the Corruption Eradication Law. For his actions, Noel was charged with violating Article 12(e) in conjunction with Article 18 of the Corruption Eradication Law read with Article 20(c) of the Penal Code in conjunction with Article 127(1) of the Penal Code.
