No Weather Modification Operations, BMKG: Jambi Region Potential for Natural Rain Until Tomorrow

The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), through the Sultan Thaha Class I Meteorological Station Jambi, has issued an early warning for the potential of moderate to heavy intensity rain, which may be accompanied by lightning/thunder and strong winds in eight regions over the next two days.

“It is correct (natural rain); there are currently no Weather Modification Operations (OMC) underway,” said Randy HB, a Weather Monitoring Officer at BMKG Class I Sultan Thaha, in Jambi on Friday.

Based on rainfall forecast data, this warning is effective from Friday, 18 September 202 $ ext{X}$ at 07:00 WIB until Saturday, 19 September 202 $ ext{X}$ at 07:00 WIB, including the Sungai Penuh area.

In general, he stated, weather conditions in most parts of Jambi from morning to afternoon are observed to be partly cloudy to cloudy with rain. It is estimated that rain will begin to hit the region from late afternoon through to the night and early morning, with the potential for rain accompanied by lightning expected in eight areas.

In the last three weeks, during week 34, the number of Acute Respiratory Infection (ISPA) cases was recorded at 7,521. That figure then rose to 7,563 cases in week 35, before increasing again to 7,824 cases in week 36.

This rise in ISPA cases is occurring while Jambi continues to face forest and land fires (karhutla) and haze. Due to these conditions, the public has been advised to pay closer attention to their health and to limit outdoor activities.
