TNI Headquarters has commented on the progress of the case involving the acid attack on Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS), by four TNI members.

Previously, on Wednesday (18/3), TNI’s Pushpom held a press conference regarding the case. On the same day, Metro Jaya Police also held a press conference. There were differences in the initials of the suspects announced by the two institutions.

TNI’s Head of Information Centre (Kapuspen), Major General Aulia Dwi Nasrullah, stated that the investigation process is still being conducted by Pushpom TNI investigators.

“I need to convey that to date, the investigation process against the 4 personnel suspected of assaulting Mr. AY is ongoing,” said Aulia when contacted on Tuesday (24/3).

He declined to provide further explanation on the investigation in question. Aulia asked all parties to wait until the entire investigation process by Pushpom TNI investigators is completed.

Previously, TNI stated that it had secured 4 of its members suspected of being the perpetrators of the acid attack on Andrie Yunus, namely NDP, SL, BHW, and ES.

NDP holds the rank of captain. Meanwhile, SL and BHW hold the rank of first lieutenant (lettu), and ES holds the rank of second sergeant (serda).

All four are assigned to the Detachment of the Strategic Intelligence Agency Headquarters (Denma BAIS) TNI, originating from the Navy and Air Force.

Meanwhile, Metro Jaya Police revealed two suspected perpetrators of the acid attack on Andrie. The two have different initials from those disclosed by Pushpom TNI.

According to Metro Jaya Police’s version, the initials of the two perpetrators are BHC and MAK, with the possibility of more than two suspected perpetrators.

The Advocacy Team for Democracy (TAUD) has urged the formation of an independent Joint Fact-Finding Team (TGPF) to resolve the case.

“Well, here we are even more convinced of the need for an independent TGPF (Joint Fact-Finding Team),” said Alghiffari Aqsa from AMAR Law Firm in a written statement on Wednesday (18/3).

“This needs to be addressed by a fact-finding team to expand it. What is the target of this attack? Don’t tell me the attack is not only on Andrie,” he added.

He also suspected a major operation carried out by an institution related to the acid attack case.

This is based on the number of suspected perpetrators believed to be more than four people as stated by TNI in the 18 March press conference.
