No transportation

No transportation

From Suara Karya

I was one of the maybe thousands of stranded passengers in Lebak Bulus bus terminal, South Jakarta, who was disappointed at the actions of a group of youths who intentionally instigated the Angkot drivers to go on strike on Saturday, June 16. As a result of the drivers' strike, would-be passengers had to walk for several miles to get to their places of work in the Ciputat area.

Unfortunately, ojek (motorcycle taxis) drivers, usually taken as an alternative mode of transportation for short distances, also doubled their charge. It was surprising why passengers were made victims of the government's policy to increase the price of fuel by an average of 30 percent. They have done nothing wrong, have they?

I fully support the police's prompt action to arrest and detain the youths and the drivers who succumbed to the youths' propaganda. I felt those youths were daydreaming they were heroes, without thinking of the negative impact their actions would have on the people at large.
