No to legalized abortion

From Republika

The 2003 Indonesian Reproduction Health Profile, issued by the Ministry of Health in cooperation with the World Health Organization, indicates a rising number of abortions being performed in the country, with the majority of women seeking abortions between the ages of 15 and 24.

This situation is cause for even greater concern with some people proposing that abortion be legalized. Though abortion is now a crime and is forbidden by all religions, they want the government to allow the practice and to provide the necessary facilities.

Young women seek out abortions because they engage in premarital sex. If abortions were legalized, they would not hesitate to have sex outside of marriage because there would no longer be any fear of pregnancy. Eventually, the futures of our young people would be ruined.

Legalizing abortion would mean making sex outside of marriage part of our culture, which would also ruin the future of the nation. Therefore, let us join hands to reject and fight all attempts to endorse abortion.
