No terrorist assets in RI: Minister

After months of investigation, Indonesian officials have come to the conclusion that there are no assets or bank accounts belonging to terrorists in Indonesia.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Hassan Wirayuda said on Friday that he would report the conclusion to the United Nations, which has asked Indonesia to check the issues as part of its commitment to fight terrorism.

"There are no transactions or accounts in their names. Neither are there any assets under the names of terrorist organizations, but we will continue the investigation," Hassan said, after meeting President Megawati Soekarnoputri.

In its report to the UN, Indonesia will publish the steps that it has taken, such as intelligence cooperation, drafting laws and ratifying international conventions, he added.--JP
