No special access at UI

From Kompas

In response to the comment in Kompas on July 17, on the
"special channel" for an ineligible candidate wishing to join the
University of Indonesia (UI) by making a payment of Rp 75
million, the following explanation is necessary to straighten
things out.

UI makes available four channels for candidates: The equitable
study opportunity program (PPKB), the independent interest
achievement or non-subsidized program (PPMM), the international
class, and the selection of new students (SPMB).

Based on the UI rector's decision on admission fees for
2004/2005, candidates passing the SPMB are required to pay Rp 5
million to Rp 25 million depending on the schools concerned. The
fees for the PPMM range from Rp 25 million to Rp 75 million
depending on study programs rather than selection.

However, the admission fees for SPMB students with a limited
financial capacity can be facilitated by reducing the fees,
allowing payment to be made in installments, exempting them from
fees or even providing scholarships.
