No RI men's singles seeds in GP finals
JAKARTA (JP): None of Indonesia's men's singles players are to be seeded in the Grand Prix badminton finals to be held at Senayan Indoor Stadium, from Dec. 10 to Dec. 14.
Based on the draw by the International Badminton Federation on Wednesday, the seeds in the men's singles in the four groups are all foreigners.
Three Danish players are seeded in Groups A and D, Peter Gade and Christensen in Group A and Poul-Erik Hoyer-Larsen in Group D.
Two Chinese are seeded in Groups B and C with Sun Jun in Group B and Dong Jiong in Group C.
Indonesia will be represented by eight shuttlers; Alan Budikusuma and Budi Santoso (Group A), Heryanto Arbi and Marleve Mainaky (B), Ardy Wiranatakusuma and Hendrawan (C), and Hermawan Susanto and Indra Wijaya (D).
Women
In the women's groups, Indonesia's Susi Susanti is in Group A together with China's Dai Yun and Zhang Ning. Mia Audina, expected to take Susi's place as the country's top player when Susi retires, is seeded in Group D with Camilia Martin of Denmark.
Group C consists of three Chinese, Ye Zhaoying, Yao Yan and Kim Ji Hyun. Group D has another two Chinese, Gong Zhicao and Zang Zang Yaqiong, and Marina Andrievskaya (Russia).
In the men's doubles, world champions Chandra Wijaya/Sigit Budiarto (Indonesia) are in Group A with Danes John Holst Christensen/Michael Soogard and Cheah Soon Kit/Yap Kim Hock (Malaysia).
Olympic champions Ricky Subagdja/Rexy Mainaky (Indonesia) are in Group B with Lee Dong-soo/Yoo Yong-song (South Korea) and Denny Kartono/Antonius (Indonesia).
The women's doubles will see Gei Fei/Gu Jun (China) in Group A with Indarti Isolina/Devana Lomban (Indonesia), Qiang Hong/Liu Lu (China) and Haruko Matsuda/Yushiko Iwata (Japan).
Elisa/Zelin Resiana (Indonesia) are in Group B with Qin Yiyuan/Tang Yongshu (China), Liu Zhong/Huang Nanyan (China) and Helen Kikegaard/Rikke Olsen (Denmark).
In the mixed doubles, Tri Kusheryanto/Minarti Timur (Indonesia) are in Group A with Imam Tohari/Ema Ermawati (Indonesia), world champion Liu Yong/Ge Fei (China) and Michael Soogard/Rikke Olsen (Denmark).
Group B consists of Bambang Suprianto/Riseu Rosalina (Indonesia), Sandiarto/Finarsih (Indonesia), Jens Eriksen/Marlene Thomsen (Denmark) and Chris Hunt/Donna Kellog (England). (lnt)
