Batang, CNBC Indonesia - Vice Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Yuliot Tanjung has assured that the national fuel oil (BBM) supply is in a secure condition. This is particularly important ahead of the peak mudik traffic and the celebration of Eid al-Fitr 2026.

He emphasised that the government currently has no plans to impose restrictions on BBM distribution. This is deliberately avoided as it could trigger panic or panic buying among the public.

“We have no restrictions yet. This applies to both the central government and regional governments. So, if there were restrictions, it would cause panic buying,” Yuliot said when met at the Rest Area KM 379 of the Batang-Semarang toll road on Wednesday (18/3/2026).

On the other hand, his side continues to strive to ensure smooth BBM distribution across all regions of Indonesia, from Sabang to Merauke, especially during the Lebaran mudik period.

Regarding stock resilience, Yuliot revealed that the national BBM reserves are currently above the minimum level set by regulations. If the minimum requirement is at 21 days, the actual available stock now reaches around 27 to 28 days.

He stressed that this figure is dynamic as it is continuously updated through supplies from domestic refineries as well as imports. With this mechanism, energy availability remains maintained and does not suddenly deplete during certain periods.

“So, it’s not that it’s used up, but when there are new deliveries from refineries, followed by imports, we certainly maintain overall energy resilience. So, for the public queuing at petrol stations, please be patient, don’t overtake each other. So, no rowdiness,” he said.
