Since Oct. 12 our telephone has been unable to make outgoing
calls and can only receive incoming messages.

My father tried to contact numbers 117 and 8562117 to report
the problem, however he failed to receive a response from the
operator despite his repeated efforts. A computerized voice
informed him that his complaint had been duly registered and that
he should wait to be attended.

His complaint was only acknowledged by an operator on Oct. 14
around 9:30 a.m. Are Telkom service people off on Saturdays and
Sundays, thereby adding disappointment to lack of service?

We appeal to the management of the East Jakarta/Bekasi Telkom
sector to establish a specific time limit for responding to
answering machine messages. For instance, operators should reply
to and receive the complaints from a customer within 10 to 15
minutes of a message being recorded.

We appreciate PT Telkom's attention in maintaining a good and
reliable telephone system.
