No New Year's Eve parties in Bogor

BOGOR (JP): The city administration has banned the public from
holding big parties on New Year's Eve as it coincides with the
start of Ramadhan, the fasting month, an official said yesterday.

"The public will not be allowed to hold large parties in the
form of outdoor entertainment on stages and the like," Didi
Wiardi, head of the Bogor sociopolitical affairs office, said.

The banning is in line with circulars from the minister of
home affairs and the West Java governor regarding the prohibition
of parties on Dec. 31.

Didi said that six district heads and 66 subdistrict heads had
been asked to implement the order in their areas with the
cooperation of local security officers. (24/hhr)
